Game Rules

1. Overview

Think you can make the most accurate team predictions? Welcome to the VGC Fantasy! This section provides a high-level summary of how the game works. Players compete by building teams and competing in leagues against other players!

2. Team Building

There are 2 different type of teams: Classic and Draft.

Classic: players must assemble a team of 6 Pokémon within a budget of 100 points.

• Each Pokémon has a cost value based on recent performances.
• Teams cannot exceed the budget cap.
• Duplicate Pokémon are not allowed.

Draft: players must assemble a team of 6 Pokémon without a maximum budget, potentially used to used assigned teams during an auction-style draft.

• Duplicate Pokémon are not allowed.

3. Scoring

Points are awarded based on each Pokémon’s performance during matches, calculated from their best final placement. Scores are calculated based on RK9 pairings and results.

Scoring is done individually for each Pokémon. All performance scores are then summed to calculate the final team score. Alternate forms are treated as separate entries.

• Win a match: +3 points
• Lose a match: -3 points
• Top final placement:
  • 1st Place: +10 points
  • 2nd Place: +8 points
  • Top 4: +6 points
  • Top 8: +4 points
  • Top 16: +2 points
  • Top 32: +1 point

Each individual Pokémon in a fantasy team scores based on how the best-performing team that includes that Pokémon places in the official tournament.

4. Team Scoring Throughout the Season

• Once a team is created, it will always start with 0 points, regardless of when it was made.
• This prevents overly easy picks and potentially allows for mini-leagues focused on just one regional.
• Teams cannot be edited after creation. If you'd like to try a new strategy, build a new team instead.
• Points from all future events will be added to that team's total score.

5. League Rules

Players may join or create leagues. Each league can be either Classic or Draft, with teams competing against each other based on their total points scored.

Only teams with 0 points scored until that point are able to join a league.
